Hyderabad, Jan 2, 2026 – In a move that could potentially redefine the political landscape of Telangana, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has accused the previous BRS regime of engaging in deep-rooted corruption during the shift of the water intake point for the Palamuru–Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme (PRLIS) from Jurala to Srisailam.

During a meeting, Irrigation Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy presented a PowerPoint presentation on Krishna water issues to Ministers, Congress MLAs, and other leaders, revealing details about the alleged mismanagement of funds in this shift.

The Chief Minister’s assertions suggest that this change was made during the tenure of the previous Bharatha Rashtra Samithi (BRS) party regime. His government has expressed its intent to investigate the matter further to determine where large sums of money were spent in the process and who benefited from it.

This allegation comes at a time when the Andhra Pradesh government, is also involved in disputes over the Krishna basin’s water distribution with Telangana. The issue has been a source of contention for many years, and this new development could further complicate matters between the two states.

As this complex situation unfolds, it remains to be seen how both governments will navigate these allegations and the potential implications for their respective political futures.
