In a development related to the energy sector, the government of Andhra Pradesh has issued a conditional No Objection Certificate (NOC) to Vedanta Limited (Cairn Oil & Gas Division). The company is slated to drill 20 onshore wells in Krishna district as part of their work awarded under the Discovered Small Field (DSF) Policy, 2018.

The proposed block for the drilling activities contains a canal running through it, necessitating the need for clearance from the Water Resources Department of Andhra Pradesh. Responding to Vedanta’s representation, the government has granted a conditional NOC, subject to certain terms and conditions.

Breaking NewsEvents and Latest NewsUpdates have reported that Vedanta Limited (Cairn Oil & Gas Division) had requested the NOC citing their award of the Onshore Oil and Gas Field development work under the DSF Policy. The company is now expected to comply with the stipulated conditions before commencing the drilling operations in Krishna district.

This move by the Andhra Pradesh government could potentially boost the energy sector in the region, contributing to increased production and potential economic growth. However, concerns regarding environmental impact and sustainable practices remain, as the development involves drilling activities near a canal.

It is anticipated that Vedanta Limited will address these concerns while adhering to the conditions specified in the NOC granted by the Andhra Pradesh government. Live Mint reports that the company has been proactive in implementing eco-friendly practices and ensuring minimal disruption to the local environment during their operations.

The Krishna district, being one of the major agricultural hubs in Andhra Pradesh, stands to benefit from the increased energy production, while also expecting the company to prioritize environmental conservation measures throughout the drilling process.
