Deccan Alert | Andhra Pradesh Plagued by Alleged Systemic Failures and Brutality: YSRCP Chief Jagan Mohan Reddy

In a stark criticism of the current governance in Andhra Pradesh, the former Chief Minister and President of the YSR Congress Party, Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, has accused the state administration under Chandrababu Naidu of turning it into a ‘Jungle Raj’, where police presence is merely on paper and absent when the vulnerable – tribals, women, and the poor – call for help.

The allegations stem from a horrific incident involving a 17-year-old tribal girl, who was reportedly subjected to repeated sexual assault in Visakhapatnam, following her abduction under false pretenses of education and care in Hiramandalam, Srikakulam district. The girl’s body was delivered to her family on March 24, sparking concerns of a possible cover-up as there were reports of pressure on the family for a quick, silent cremation.

Furthermore, Jagan Mohan Reddy highlighted the bus fire incident in Markapuram on Thursday morning as another example of the state government’s collapse. He claimed that under the current administration, the state is left with nothing but public relations stunts and a complete lack of governance.

The YSRCP Chief emphasized that the police, under the “Red Book” governance, function as puppets while citizens are left unprotected and suffering. He asserted that this is the grim reality in Andhra Pradesh today.
