Deccan Alert | Chairman Urges Karnataka Chief Minister to Hold Budget Session in Belagavi for Balanced Development

In a move aimed at addressing regional disparity, Chairperson of the legislative Council Basavaraj Horatti has written a letter to Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, advocating for the budget session of the legislature to be held in Belagavi instead of the winter session.

Regional imbalance continues to persist despite several measures by successive governments and the implementation of recommendations from committees such as those led by Dr. D.M. Nanjundappa and Govinda Rao.

Mr. Horatti believes that effective implementation of these committees’ suggestions, along with special schemes and funds, will significantly improve the condition of northern Karnataka.

Mr. Horatti stressed that one potential solution to address this imbalance is by holding the budget session in Belagavi, rather than the Suvarna Vidhana Soudha. He urged the Chief Minister to consider this request on behalf of the people of northern Karnataka, expressing confidence that such a decision would be historic and promote equitable and sustainable development throughout the state.
