In a tribute to the iconic poet, Ande Sri, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy lauded his significant role in the Malidasa movement for Telangana’s liberation at a memorial meeting held on Saturday. Speaking before an assembled crowd, the Chief Minister underscored the dynamic nature of the Telangana society, stating that it is “innocent but always ready to show its fighting spirit when circumstances demand.”

The Chief Minister compared the resilience and resistance shown by the people of Telangana throughout history to the current vibrant social fabric of the region. Using historical examples, he highlighted the powerful voice of Bandi Yadagiri’s Bandenaka, a symbolic act of rebellion during the Nizam’s rule, as well as the contributions made by key figures from the Malidasa movement such as Gaddar, Guda Anjanna, Ande Sri, and Goreti Venkanna.

Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy emphasized that Ande Sri, who lacked formal education but wrote the iconic song “Jaya Jaya Hey Telangana,” was a remarkable individual whose spirit embodied the essence of the dynamic Telangana society. He further stated that the late poet remained close to his heart and continued to inspire the ongoing fight for justice and equality in the region.

The memorial meeting served as an opportunity for the people of Telangana to remember Ande Sri’s contributions to the struggle for a separate Telangana state and reaffirm their commitment to upholding the values he stood for, such as unity, resilience, and the pursuit of justice. The gathering also aimed to honor the memory of other martyrs who fought for the same cause and paid tribute to their unwavering spirit and courage.
