Bengaluru, Karnataka – A senior Congress leader, BK Hariprasad, raised concerns about the credibility of a recent survey on voter trust in Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) in Karnataka. The survey, claimed by Hariprasad to be commissioned by government-linked agencies, was alleged to lack transparency, independence, and statistical rigour.

Hariprasad’s allegations were made in response to the survey findings, as he questioned both the commissioning authority and the agency that carried out the exercise. He emphasized that the survey’s results should be viewed with skepticism due to concerns about its credibility and potential biases.

The individual who conducted the survey, Dr Subramaniam, is associated with the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) and runs an NGO, according to Hariprasad. The leader’s remarks have sparked a debate over the NGO’s credibility and whether its association with PMO could influence the survey results.

The Election Commission has yet to comment on the allegations made by BK Hariprasad regarding the survey’s conduct and the involvement of government-linked agencies. The Commission’s response will likely fuel further discussions and debates in political circles, as questions around voter trust in EVMs continue to be a topic of interest in the run-up to the upcoming Assembly elections.
