Vem Narender Reddy and Abhishek Manu Singhvi filed their nominations as Rajya Sabha candidates, submitting the papers to Election Officer Upender Reddy under the leadership of Minister Sridhar Babu.
In a key political development, the Indian National Congress has nominated Singhvi and Narender Reddy for the upcoming Rajya Sabha vacancies from Telangana. Singhvi is currently an incumbent member representing the state in the Upper House, while Narender Reddy serves as an advisor to Chief Minister Revanth Reddy.
Following the announcement by the All India Congress Committee, Narender Reddy expressed his gratitude on social media platform X to senior party leaders, including Sonia Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, and Rahul Gandhi.
The nominations come as the Rajya Sabha seats from Telangana are set to fall vacant upon the completion of the current members’ terms. The move is seen as an effort to strengthen the Congress party’s presence in the Upper House of Parliament.
The nominations will now be subject to scrutiny and approval by the Election Commission as per the prescribed procedure
