Deccan Alert | Finance Minister Announces Three High-Speed Rail Corridors in Telangana, Boosting Infrastructure Development

In a significant announcement on Sunday, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman revealed plans to create three high-speed rail corridors that will traverse through the state of Telangana. This move is expected to catalyze the development of the region’s transport infrastructure.

The newly proposed high-speed rail corridors will connect Pune-Hyderabad, Hyderabad-Bengaluru, and Hyderabad-Chennai. These projects are part of a broader national strategy that includes seven high-speed rail lines, with the remaining four linking Mumbai-Pune, Delhi-Varanasi, Varanasi-Siliguri, and Chennai-Bengaluru.

During her budget speech, Minister Sitharaman emphasized that these high-speed corridors would drastically cut travel time between major cities while alleviating the congestion on the existing rail network. She further explained that the corridors would be designed with a focus on environmental sustainability, offering an eco-friendly solution for long-distance journeys.

With this announcement, Telangana joins the list of regions benefiting from high-speed rail development, as part of the government’s efforts to modernize the country’s transportation system.
