In a recent development, Industries Minister T.R.B. Rajaa has emphasized the need for other Indian states to follow Tamil Nadu’s industrial growth model, which he described as focusing on excellence and inclusive growth. The assertion comes in light of the Economic Survey 2025-2026 that acknowledges Tamil Nadu as a frontrunner in industrial development.
Mr. Rajaa emphasized Tamil Nadu’s position as the leading state in India for manufacturing jobs, stating that it represents the nation’s industrial depth, robust supplier networks, and the ability to convert investments into quality employment opportunities. The minister also highlighted the Survey’s recognition of Tamil Nadu as an entrepreneurial state that fosters ecosystems rather than isolated factories.
The auto component base and the electronics cluster in Sriperumbudur were singled out by Mr. Rajaa as national examples of how cluster-led growth can create scale, resilience, and competitiveness. The Minister also pointed to rapid reforms implemented in Tamil Nadu, such as faster single-window clearances, digitized approvals, expedited project execution with stronger environmental compliance, and liberalized construction laws that have significantly reduced industrial and urban development friction.
Additionally, Mr. Rajaa highlighted key advancements within the state’s industrial sector. The Thoothukudi Port was identified as one of India’s Green Hydrogen hubs, while the Medical Devices Park in Oragadam was recognized for its role in strengthening advanced manufacturing in a sunrise sector.
With such progress and recognition on various fronts, Tamil Nadu’s industrial growth continues to be a model that other states may strive to emulate in the future.
