In the ongoing fight against corruption, the Karnataka Lokayukta carried out simultaneous raids on residences and offices of several government officials across multiple districts in Karnataka.
The operations were conducted following allegations of corrupt practices and accumulation of assets disproportionate to their income, according to an official statement released today.
The search operations were executed in connection with complaints regarding disproportionate asset cases registered against four government officers in the Lokayukta Police Stations of Bagalakote, Basavanabagewadi, and other districts. In addition, searches were also conducted at more than 17 places related to the relatives of the accused government officials.
The raids come as part of a crackdown on corruption in various departments across the state. The recent actions taken by the Karnataka Lokayukta serve as a testament to their commitment towards maintaining transparency and accountability within the government machinery.
Notable among those targeted is Shamasundar Maruthi Kamble, a senior official from Bagalakote district, who has been under scrutiny for similar allegations in the past. The exact details of the assets involved and the extent of corruption are yet to be disclosed.
