In an attempt to bridge the skills gap that often hinders students from being placed in top companies, the Kerala state government is planning to establish a Skill and Entrepreneurship University. The proposed university could potentially become a reality this financial year.
Industries Minister P Rajeeve announced the upcoming establishment of the university under the Public Private Participation (PPP) model. The university will reportedly have a governing board consisting of leading industrialists and technocrats.
This move is significant as it aims to equip students with practical skills required in various industries, thereby increasing their employability and entrepreneurial prospects.
According to sources close to the matter, the proposed university is expected to focus on providing vocational training, skill development programs, and entrepreneurship education. The university’s curriculum will reportedly be designed to cater to the demands of the ever-evolving job market.
The establishment of this university in Kerala follows the trend set by other states such as Maharashtra, where similar initiatives have been taken to address the skills gap among students and enhance their employability.
