Vijayawada, 12th December 2025 – Minister for Education, IT, and Electronics, Nara Lokesh, embarked on a strategic tour of the United States and Canada, aiming to cement Andhra Pradesh’s status as an attractive destination for global investments across various sectors. The fifth day of his journey took him to Toronto, where he engaged in high-level discussions with prominent entities regarding potential collaborations in AI, quantum technologies, clean tech, renewable energy, logistics, and infrastructure.
During the meetings, Minister Lokesh met with senior representatives from the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPPIB), OpenText, the Consulate General of India in Toronto, and the Canada–India Business Council (CIBC). The discussions centered around Andhra Pradesh’s rapid progress under the leadership of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, as well as the potential benefits that could be derived from collaborative projects in the aforementioned sectors.
The meeting with the CPPIB was particularly significant, as it presented an opportunity to explore potential investments in green energy, ports, logistics, toll roads, and urban infrastructure within Andhra Pradesh. The CPPIB’s participation could bring substantial capital for the development of these key areas, further bolstering the state’s economic growth and sustainability efforts.
The discussions with OpenText, a leading enterprise information management company headquartered in Canada, focused on potential collaborations to drive innovation in IT and electronics. The consulate general of India in Toronto, and the CIBC, also expressed interest in fostering stronger bilateral ties between Canada and Andhra Pradesh, with a particular focus on trade and investment opportunities.
Minister Lokesh’s efforts in securing strategic partnerships for Andhra Pradesh during his US-Canada tour underscore the state government’s commitment to attracting global investments and fostering economic growth. The meetings in Toronto marked another step forward in realizing this goal, with potential collaborations in various sectors offering significant benefits for both parties involved.
