In a heartening development for nature enthusiasts, the elusive peregrine falcon, known as the world’s fastest flying bird, has been sighted once again in the forests of Telangana. The rare avian was recently spotted within the boundaries of the Kawal Sanctuary located in Adilabad district.
The sighting of this extraordinary migratory bird, capable of achieving speeds over 320 kilometers per hour during its hunting pursuits, has been met with widespread excitement among nature lovers. The appearance of the peregrine falcon in the Jannaram forest area is considered an encouraging indicator of the forests’ health.
It should be noted that this rare bird was previously observed in a forest area on the outskirts of Jannaram town back in 2021. Dr Venkat Anagandhula, who led conservation efforts for the species, emphasized the importance of continuous monitoring and preservation measures to protect and ensure the survival of this magnificent bird.
The peregrine falcon is a valuable addition to the diverse wildlife population within Telangana, underscoring the crucial role that conservation efforts play in maintaining ecological balance and promoting biodiversity.
