Deccan Alert | Telangana Government Anticipates Major Announcements in Upcoming Union Budget

In the upcoming Union Budget to be presented on February 1, the state government of Telangana is hopeful for announcements on around 47 proposals that are currently pending with the Centre across 12 different departments. The total estimated cost of these projects exceeds Rs 1.50 lakh crore.

Over the past year, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, along with his Cabinet colleagues, has held several meetings with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and various Union ministers to discuss and submit memoranda requesting the release of funds and sanction for key projects in Telangana.

Some of the proposals include developments related to infrastructure such as the Regional Ring Road project. Additionally, there are expectations of announcements concerning educational institutions like Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas.

The Union Budget is a significant event that outlines the nation’s financial plans and expenditures for the upcoming fiscal year. The pending projects in Telangana, if approved, could potentially boost economic growth and development in the state.

Several key infrastructure and energy projects proposed by the state are pending approval from the Centre. These include funding clearance of ₹34,367.62 crore for the Regional Ring Road, ₹45,000 crore for 10 greenfield radial roads connecting the ORR and RRR, and ₹17,000 crore for the Bandar Port–Dry Port greenfield highway. Airport approvals for Adilabad, Palvancha and Basant Nagar are also awaiting clearance, excluding Warangal-Mamnoor.

In addition, the Centre is yet to clear eight new railway line proposals. Key energy-related approvals pending include transmission projects under PSDF schemes, restoration of 4,000 MW solar allocation under PM-KUSUM A, allocation of solar pumps under PM-KUSUM B and C, and mining-related clearances for SCCL coal blocks, including Tadicherla Coal Block-II.
