Deccan Alert | Telangana High Court Demands Explanation on Alleged Irregularities in Indiramma Housing Scheme

In a move to address suspicions of corruption and irregularities, the Telangana High Court has issued notices to the state government, including its Chief Secretary, Principal Secretary of the Housing Department, District Collector, and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). These directives follow allegations of improper implementation of the Indiramma Housing Scheme in Mulugu district.

The matter surfaced after a local woman wrote a letter to the High Court, detailing large-scale irregularities she claimed occurred during the allotment of houses under this scheme. The complainant asserted that her application for house allocation was disregarded while ineligible individuals were allegedly awarded houses. Furthermore, she accused officials of demanding bribes ranging from Rs 50,000 to Rs 1 lakh to facilitate these illegal allotments.

Taking the accusations seriously, the High Court treated the letter as a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) and initiated proceedings. The court, consisting of Justices P Shyam Koshy and Nandikonda Narsing Rao, heard the case on Friday and ordered the government and other involved parties to submit their responses by March 30th.

This development comes as part of a broader effort for transparency and accountability in public housing schemes in Telangana, ensuring fairness and justice for all residents seeking assistance from the government.
