The Telangana High Court has achieved commendable success in disposing of a significant percentage of the cases filed last year, as announced by the Chief Justice, Aparesh Kumar Singh, during the Republic Day celebrations on January 26. Out of the 79,029 cases instituted, 75,419 were resolved, amounting to a disposal rate of 95%.

In his address to the gathering following the national flag hoisting ceremony at the Telangana High Court premises, Chief Justice Singh emphasized that this accomplishment was a result of the collective efforts of judges, judicial officers, and members of the Bar. He further highlighted the importance of understanding and internalizing the Constitution’s values for it to reach beyond courtrooms and institutions, permeating every community, home, and individual.

The Chief Justice also emphasized the role of alternative dispute resolution methods, reporting that four National Lok Adalats conducted by the Legal Services Authority last year led to the disposal of 62.57 lakh cases and the awarding of Rs 3,418.84 crore in compensation. Moreover, he mentioned that 30,295 people benefited from legal services, while 1,416 cases were settled through mediation.

The event was graced by several dignitaries, including sitting and former judges of the High Court and Supreme Court, Lokayukta A Rajashekar Reddy, Additional Solicitor General B Narasimha Sharma, Additional Advocate Generals Tera Rajanikant Reddy and Mohammed Imran Khan, Public Prosecutor Palle Nageswara Rao, and State Legal Services Authority Member Secretary CH Panchakshari, among others.
