In a significant development, Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar announced that the state of Telangana is advancing toward a sustainable transport ecosystem. The announcement was made during a panel discussion at the Global Summit.
Prabhakar revealed that Telangana has implemented one of India’s most generous electric vehicle (EV) incentive policies to foster the adoption of electric mobility. This includes a vehicle scrappage policy offering exemptions on Green Tax, pending penalties, and tax concessions for new vehicles after old ones are scrapped.
To support this transition, the state government is establishing 37 Automated Testing Stations (ATS) across Telangana, with four in the Hyderabad Metropolitan Region. The ATS network aims to ensure modernized infrastructure supports the development of this transport ecosystem.
The minister emphasized that the transport system will be safe, smart, digital, transparent, and fully aligned with sustainability goals. This initiative is backed by advanced technologies and robust governance reforms, marking a significant step towards a greener future for Telangana’s transportation sector.
