Deccan Alert | Telangana Unveils Visionary Next-Gen Life Sciences Policy at Davos Forum

Telangana has revealed its ambitious new policy for the life sciences sector, titled ‘Next-Gen Life Sciences Policy 2026-30.’ The policy was unveiled during the ongoing World Economic Forum (WEF) annual meeting in Davos.

The objective of this policy is to elevate Telangana to a globally integrated hub for life sciences, encompassing discovery, development, and deployment, while aiming to rank among the top five life sciences clusters worldwide by 2030. The policy sets a target of attracting $25 billion in investments, creating 500,000 high-quality jobs, and integrating deeper into global life sciences value chains, according to Industries and IT Minister D. Sridhar Babu.

Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy expressed confidence that the next phase of growth in life sciences will be driven by cross-border collaboration, global capital, and shared innovation agendas. He emphasized that Telangana aims to become a global originator of advanced therapies and platforms, positioning itself as a key player in shaping the future of global healthcare, advanced therapeutics, and sustainable bio-manufacturing.

The State Government is keen on expanding Telangana’s role in the global healthcare landscape. The Next-Gen Life Sciences Policy is designed to accelerate Telangana’s transition from being an integral part of global supply chains to a global innovator in advanced therapies and platforms.

Emphasis will be placed on frontier science and advanced manufacturing platforms, including cell and gene therapies, peptides, and precision fermentation. In the past two years, Telangana has already attracted investment worth ₹73,000 crore. With the launch of this new policy, the state is now aiming to attract ₹2 Lakh crore over the next five years.
