Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao addressed concerns over urea shortage during the Kharif season, a period crucial for agricultural growth. During the Question Hour in the Assembly, Rao attributed the shortage to geopolitical situations and addressed the issue raised by Congress member K Madan Mohan Rao.

However, assuring the House, Minister Rao stated that Telangana currently has no urea scarcity, allaying fears of potential disruptions to the farming sector. The Minister’s response comes at a time when geopolitical tensions have been impacting global fertilizer supplies, leading to increased prices and shortages in various parts of the world.

Rythu Vedikas, farmer associations across Telangana, have been vocal about the need for timely access to fertilizers, particularly urea, due to its significance in crop production. The state government has taken steps to combat black marketing and ensure the establishment of additional sale points to facilitate seamless distribution of fertilizers to farmers during the Kharif season.

The Minister’s statements were made amidst heightened scrutiny by various political parties, regarding the supply and affordability of essential agricultural resources like urea. This issue underscores the importance of maintaining a stable fertilizer supply chain for Telangana farmers to ensure optimal crop yields.
