Former Chairman of the Karnataka Legislative Council and KPCC vice-president V. R. Sudarshan has urged Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to immediately appoint deserving Congress party workers as non-official directors on public sector boards. In a letter written on Saturday, ahead of the Congress Foundation Day, Sudarshan said such appointments should not be delayed any further.

In his letter, Sudarshan praised Siddaramaiah’s contributions to Karnataka’s development and noted that he is set to become the longest-serving Chief Minister of the state. He pointed out that a committee headed by Home Minister G. Parameshwara has already submitted recommendations for appointing party workers to various boards, which are currently under consideration in the Chief Minister’s Office.

Highlighting that the issue has been widely discussed within the Congress, Sudarshan said appointing non-official directors would allow committed party cadres to contribute more effectively to governance while strengthening the party’s institutional presence. He also drew attention to nominations proposed by MLAs, MPs, DCC presidents and senior leaders.

Separately, Sudarshan wrote to Deputy Chief Minister and KPCC president D.K. Shivakumar, urging him to convene a meeting of KPCC office-bearers and the executive committee to review the political situation in the state and the implementation of government policies and programmes.
