Hyderabad – In a bold statement made at a press conference in Gandhi Bhavan on Saturday, the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) working president, T Jagga Reddy, questioned the right of Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president K T Rama Rao (KTR) to question Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy.

Mr. Jagga Reddy implied that KTR’s father, who is currently serving as the Opposition Leader, has a mentor in Chandrababu Naidu. He accused KTR of being a second-bench leader and suggested that he should resign from his post and become the Opposition Leader if he wants to question Chief Minister Revanth Reddy.

“You (KTR) and your brother-in-law Harish are second-bench leaders,” Mr. Jagga Reddy said, addressing KTR. “If you want to question Revanth, first make your father resign from the post of the Opposition Leader, take the post of Opposition Leader yourself, then speak; only then will your word carry any weight.”

The statement comes amidst ongoing political tensions between the ruling BRS and the Congress party in Telangana. The Congress has been vocal about its criticism of the BRS government, with leaders like Komatireddy Venkat Reddy and Hanumanthanna accusing KTR of not being assertive enough in his role as working president.

In response to Mr. Jagga Reddy’s statement, the BRS has not yet issued an official comment. The political landscape in Telangana remains dynamic, with all eyes on the upcoming assembly elections due in 2026.
