In a statement issued today by the Amaravati Meteorological Centre, an impending bout of heavy rainfall is expected to affect various districts across Andhra Pradesh over the next five days. Alongside this precipitation, officials have warned that strong winds and lightning may pose additional threats during this period.

According to the warning, the districts of Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Kadapa, Nellore, Guntur, Bapatla, and Palnadu are expected to experience moderate to heavy rainfall. The alert comes in the wake of preliminary reports indicating that light to moderate showers were recorded on Friday in several districts such as Prakasam, Eluru, Krishna, Palnadu, Anakapalle, Alluri Seetharamaraju, and Konaseema.

In response to this impending weather event, State Disaster Management Authority Director, MD Prakhar Jain, has called on residents to take necessary precautions. He emphasized the importance of staying informed about the latest weather updates and following any advisories issued by local authorities. The Director also encouraged citizens to secure their properties, especially those located in low-lying areas or near water bodies, as a preventative measure against potential flooding.

As residents brace for the inclement weather, emergency services have confirmed that they are fully prepared to respond to any incidents that may arise during this period. The State Disaster Management Authority has assured the public that all necessary measures have been taken to ensure a swift and effective response to any emergencies that might occur.

The Andhra Pradesh government has also requested that residents adhere to safety guidelines during this time, such as avoiding travel in affected areas unless absolutely necessary, staying indoors during heavy rainfall or strong winds, and keeping a safe distance from water bodies. Additionally, the government recommends that individuals stock up on essential supplies to ensure they are prepared for any possible disruptions caused by the adverse weather conditions.

Stay informed through reliable sources, heed the advice of local authorities, and prioritize safety as you go about your daily routines in these challenging circumstances.
