Hyderabad, September 11: In a significant move towards the development of the Gandhi Sarovar project, Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy met with Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh in Delhi on Wednesday. The meeting aimed to discuss the transfer of 98.20 acres of defense lands for the prestigious Gandhi Sarovar initiative launched by the Telangana government.
The Gandhi Sarovar project, envisioned at the confluence of Musi and Isa rivers in Hyderabad, includes the construction of a Gandhi Circle of Unity at the junction of these two rivers. However, the satisfactory completion of this project requires the acquisition of the specified defense lands.
During the meeting, Chief Minister Reddy briefed Rajnath Singh about the components and objectives of the Gandhi Sarovar project, highlighting its potential to contribute significantly to the city’s development and tourism sector. The Defense Minister was informed about the strategic importance of this project, which aims to promote unity and peace in the region.
This request for land transfer follows the Telangana government’s commitment to preserving the rich heritage and culture of the state, as exemplified by the Gandhi Sarovar project. The project is expected to boost the local handloom industry, providing opportunities for artisans and craftspeople in the region.
