Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy Integrates LED Streetlight Networks Across Telangana with Central Command Control Centre

Hyderabad, September 16 (New Indian Express): In a move aimed at enhancing the efficiency and sustainability of street lighting in the state, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has instructed officials to integrate all LED streetlight networks across Telangana with the Central Command Control Centre located in Hyderabad. This step is expected to facilitate real-time monitoring and maintenance of the streetlights, particularly at night.

The Chief Minister also suggested that esteemed institutions such as IIT-Hyderabad conduct third-party audits on the maintenance of LED lights. This initiative is intended to ensure the highest standards of upkeep and durability.

In a related development, the Chief Minister was informed about the monthly electricity bill of GHMC, which currently stands at Rs 8 crore. In response, he instructed officials to take necessary measures to address this issue. The exact nature of these measures remains to be seen.

The directive comes as part of a broader initiative by the Chief Minister to empower local bodies. He has also instructed Panchayat Raj officials to delegate powers for the installation and maintenance of streetlights in gram panchayats to sarpanches (village heads). Furthermore, he has directed these officials to conduct a detailed survey of existing LED lights in the state.

This initiative by the Chief Minister is expected to bring about significant improvements in the quality and sustainability of street lighting across Telangana.
