Hyderabad, 12th November 2025 – In a significant move to honor the late poet and writer Ande Sri, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy announced plans to urge the Centre for a posthumous Padma Shri award. The announcement was made during the attendance of Ande Sri’s last rites at Ghatkesar on Tuesday, an event that was also graced by several ministers and thousands of admirers and literary enthusiasts.
In addition to seeking a posthumous Padma Shri for Ande Sri, the Telangana state government also plans to construct a memorial park in his honor. The park will serve as a tribute to the poet’s significant contributions to literature.
As a further gesture of honor, the state government has decided to provide a government job to one of Ande Sri’s family members. The exact position and recruitment process have yet to be determined, but it is expected that this decision will provide some financial relief to the poet’s loved ones.
Minister Danasari Anasuya, expressed her gratitude towards Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy for these initiatives. “Ande Sri was not just a poet; he was a beacon of hope and inspiration for many,” she said. “I believe these steps will ensure his legacy lives on.”
Vem Narender Reddy, advisor to the CM, echoed similar sentiments. “Ande Sri’s work transcended the boundaries of language and region,” he said. “His contributions to Telugu literature are immeasurable. It is only fitting that we honor him in this way.”
