In a move aimed at addressing the increasing demand for electricity in the state, the Telangana Cabinet on Tuesday, November 25, has approved the establishment of a third power distribution company (DISCOM). This new entity will oversee all agricultural connections, lift irrigation schemes, Mission Bhagiratha, safe drinking water schemes, and Hyderabad Metro Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) power connections in Telangana.
The decision was made during a Cabinet meeting where discussions also focused on the growing need for electricity to cater to the expanding energy requirements in the state. The new DISCOM, when operational, is expected to streamline and improve the distribution of electricity in these sectors.
The establishment of this third DISCOM marks a significant step towards ensuring uninterrupted power supply and improving overall infrastructure in Telangana. However, further details regarding the timeline for its implementation, the appointment of officials, and other operational aspects are yet to be announced.
