In a bid to safeguard his personal image, Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan approached the Delhi High Court on Friday. The lawsuit seeks protection against misleading AI videos circulated on Google, impersonation, and false association content on Meta (Facebook) as well as e-commerce platforms.

Justice Manmeet Pritam Singh Arora acknowledged the petition, citing a previous order passed in the Ajay Devgn case as a precedent. The Court had clarified that individuals seeking urgent removal of objectionable online content must initially address their concerns to the relevant social media platforms.

Kalyan’s legal team presented evidence suggesting that AI-generated videos, impersonating him, were circulated on various digital platforms. Additionally, fake association content and misleading information about his personal and political life had been disseminated, causing harm to his reputation and integrity.

The petition comes at a time when the issue of online privacy and personality rights has gained significant attention in India. In recent years, several high-profile figures have faced similar challenges with the proliferation of deepfakes and misinformation on social media platforms.

Justice Arora will now consider the merits of Kalyan’s petition and determine whether interim measures are necessary to protect his personality rights pending a full hearing of the case. The Court has not yet set a date for the next hearing.
