In the heart of India’s financial hub, the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) Hyderabad Regional Office has been commended for its proactive and supportive role in fortifying cooperative banking within Telangana. The accolades were bestowed during a recent interaction with RBI Central Board Director Shri Satish K. Marathe, who addressed the Chairmen and CEOs of Telangana’s Urban Cooperative Banks (UCBs).

The appreciation stems from the RBI Hyderabad office’s constructive approach in fostering a robust cooperative banking environment within the state. The interaction served as an opportunity for UCB leaders to express their gratitude and share insights on the challenges and opportunities facing the sector.

Over the past two years, Telangana has seen a significant expansion of its UCB network. Between 2023 and September 2025, an additional 121 branches were added, bringing the total number of Urban Cooperative Bank branches in the state to 351. This growth underscores the strategic efforts being made to enhance financial inclusion and accessibility for the citizens of Telangana.

As the year draws to a close, the appreciation from UCB leaders underscores the positive impact that collaboration between regulatory bodies like the RBI and the cooperative banking sector can have on economic development within a region. The ongoing support and initiatives by the RBI Hyderabad Regional Office are expected to further bolster the growth trajectory of Telangana’s cooperative banking sector in the coming year.
