Hyderabad, January 7th – In a move that has sparked concern among students and academia, the Students Collective of Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) have announced plans for a rally in protest against the Telangana government’s attempt to reclaim 50 acres of university land.
The students view this as an alarming development that could potentially impact public education and future expansion plans of the institution. On Wednesday, MANUU students gathered at the campus to voice their concerns, rallying under the slogan “Land Chori Namanzoor, Defend Public Education Defend University Land.”
The Telangana government has issued a show cause notice to MANUU asking why it should not reclaim 50 out of 200 acres of university land. The notice, while not a final decision, has raised concerns among students and faculty members who fear that the move could hinder the university’s growth and academic endeavors.
The forthcoming rally is aimed at raising awareness about the potential implications of the land resumption plan and to encourage dialogue between the university and the state government. The Students Collective hopes that through peaceful protest, they can persuade the government to reconsider its decision.
The situation remains dynamic, with both parties expected to engage in discussions regarding this matter in the coming days. It is hoped that a resolution will be reached that aligns with the interests of public education and the future growth of MANUU.
