In Vijayawada on January 12, Health Minister Y Satya Kumar Yadav emphasized the importance of voluntary blood donations and encouraged youth to participate more actively. Addressing the public ahead of National Youth Day, he highlighted that while the current rate of voluntary blood donation in Andhra Pradesh stands at 88.6%, the ultimate goal is to reach 100%.
In the context of the 2025-26 financial year up to December, official data indicates a significant increase in blood units collected, with over 7 lakh units being donated compared to the previous year. This surge underscores the growing commitment and altruism among citizens towards saving lives through voluntary blood donations.
The Minister’s call to action serves as a reminder of the critical role youth play in maintaining the state’s blood supply, which is essential for countless medical procedures and emergencies. By participating in voluntary blood donation drives, they can make a tangible difference in their communities and across the State.
