Deputy Chief Minister Highlights Significance of Sammakka-Saralamma Jatara as Symbol of Telangana’s Self-Respect

Hyderabad, January 12 – Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu emphasized the importance of the annual Sammakka-Saralamma Jatara, describing it as more than just a tribal festival but the embodiment of Telangana’s pride and self-respect.

On Sunday evening, Mallu convened with Ministers Sridhar Babu, Konda Surekha, Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, Seethakka, and Adluri Laxman to review the Jatara arrangements at Medaram. Following the review, he addressed the media, expressing his gratitude for the efforts being made towards the enhancement of the cultural grandeur and global representation of the Sammakka-Saralamma Jatara.

The State Government has allocated a substantial budget of approximately Rs 260 crore for this year’s Sammakka-Saralamma Jatara, with a significant portion (Rs 150 crore) earmarked specifically for arrangements related to the event. The Deputy Chief Minister is overseeing the construction of permanent structures aimed at further elevating the unique cultural significance of the festival.

Mallu concluded his media interaction by offering prayers to the goddesses, reiterating the importance of the Sammakka-Saralamma Jatara in reflecting the spirit and history of Telangana.
