Deccan Alert | Karnataka DGP Suspended Over Allegations of Intimate Videos in Office

Bengaluru, January 20 – In a sudden turn of events, Karnataka Director General of Police (Civil Rights Enforcement) K Ramachandra Rao has been suspended after the state government ordered an investigation into unverified videos showing him in intimate acts with women inside his office on Tuesday.

The suspension came hours after purported videos went viral on social media platforms, causing political outrage and a flurry of complaints to both state and central authorities.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah stated that disciplinary action would follow a detailed inquiry. “We will take action. No one is above the law, however senior the officer may be,” said Siddaramaiah in Badami, adding that he had ordered an investigation earlier in the day following reports of the matter.

Rao denied the allegations and termed the videos as fabricated and aimed at tarnishing his image and impeding his career progression. He mentioned his unsuccessful attempts to meet Home Minister G Parameshwara and hinted that the footage could be related to his posting in Belagavi nearly eight years ago. “I will consult my advocate and take appropriate legal action,” Rao said.

The government has requested a report from the home department regarding the matter, while Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar stated he was unaware of the details and deferred queries to Siddaramaiah and Parameshwara.

As the controversy continued to escalate, social activist Rajshekar Mulali wrote letters to the Prime Minister’s Office and Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), requesting legal action against Rao for alleged misuse of power, public office, and police uniform, as well as disrespect towards national and state symbols.

Additionally, another activist named Dinesh Kallahalli filed a complaint with the Chief Secretary and Additional Chief Secretary, demanding an inquiry into the matter. The outcome of these complaints awaits further developments.
