The Telangana Chief Minister, A Revanth Reddy, has assured continuous engagement with the Union government to secure approval for the long-awaited Hyderabad Metro Rail Phase–II. In a recent meeting with Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs Manohar Lal, Revanth Reddy emphasized that the state government is taking necessary steps for the approval of the metro phase.
In response to a letter written by Union Minister for Coal and Mines G Kishan Reddy, Revanth Reddy outlined the actions undertaken by the Telangana government. The clarification came following Kishan Reddy’s concerns about the delay in nominating two officials to a joint committee for the construction of Hyderabad Metro Rail Phase–II.
Revanth Reddy confirmed that the relevant details regarding the joint committee’s composition have already been communicated to the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs. He also reiterated the state government’s commitment to maintaining continuous coordination with the Union for the approval of Metro Rail Phase–II.
Kishan Reddy, in a letter to the Chief Minister last week, urged him to complete the takeover of Hyderabad Metro Phase-I from Larsen and Toubro. The Union Minister expressed readiness to undertake Phase–II along with the state government once the takeover is completed. He also requested the state government to expedite the process of taking over Phase-I and sending necessary proposals for the construction of Phase–II to the Central government at the earliest.
The assurance from the Telangana Chief Minister comes as a relief to those eagerly awaiting the commencement of Hyderabad Metro Rail Phase–II, which has faced delays in the past. The state and central governments are expected to work together closely to expedite the process and bring the metro project back on track.
