Hyderabad, India – The Telangana state government’s delegation, led by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, has received a positive response at the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland, for their proposal to hold an annual follow-up meeting in July in Hyderabad.

During the event, the delegation announced that global cosmetics behemoth L’Oreal will set up the world’s first beauty-tech Global Capability Centre (GCC) in Hyderabad. The centre is expected to be inaugurated in November and will function as a global hub for innovation, technology, data, and supply chain operations, supporting L’Oréal’s worldwide digital transformation, AI, and analytics initiatives.

Nicolas Hieronimus, CEO of L’Oreal, confirmed the setting up of the centre during the delegation’s meeting in Davos. He also invited Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and Minister D Sridhar Babu to the inauguration. Minister Babu pitched Telangana as a leading GCC destination, highlighting its existing success in med-tech and health-tech, as well as emerging niches like beauty-tech.

Minister Babu also assured the company of the government’s full support, while Special Chief Secretary for ITE&C and Industries, Sanjay Kumar, invited L’Oreal to explore manufacturing opportunities in Telangana, citing the state’s robust ecosystem and infrastructure. Hieronimus signaled the possibility of deeper engagement beyond the GCC by mentioning potential future manufacturing investments in Hyderabad.

The beauty-tech GCC will see tech solutions developed in Hyderabad being deployed across L’Oréal’s facilities globally, according to Hieronimus. Several global majors have already chosen Hyderabad for their GCC operations, indicating the city’s growing appeal as a hub for such centres.
