In a tragic incident, a road accident near Sirivella Metta in Andhra Pradesh’s Nandyal district took the lives of two drivers and one cleaning staff. The accident occurred when a passenger bus collided with a container truck, resulting in a massive fire that engulfed both vehicles.
The private AR BCVR Travels bus, transporting 36 passengers, suffered a sudden tyre burst while traveling at high speed. The driver lost control, swerving across the divider and crashing into an oncoming lorry loaded with motorcycles. The impact caused explosions and fire that quickly consumed both vehicles.
Madhusudan, Inspector at Sirivellametta, reported that a tyre burst led to the collision, resulting in three deaths near Sirivella Metta. The bus driver, the lorry driver, and the cleaner perished at the scene due to the intense fire. However, swift action by local residents and the bus cleaner saved all 36 passengers aboard the bus from fatalities. Four of them sustained minor fractures and were admitted to Nandyal District Government Hospital for medical treatment, while eight others suffered minor injuries.
The local residents and the bus cleaner acted quickly, smashing windows to pull out panicked passengers one by one. Their immediate response ensured no passenger fatalities, though some sustained injuries.
Nandyal police immediately arrived at the accident site, extinguishing the fire and launching an investigation into the incident. Preliminary reports confirm the tyre burst as the trigger for the collision. The incident has highlighted concerns about vehicle malfunctions on busy highways.
