Deccan Alert | Telangana State Road Transport Corporation to Operate Special Buses for Medaram Jatara

The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) is set to operate a fleet of approximately 4,000 buses from January 25 through February 1, catering to the Medaram Jatara scheduled between January 28 and January 31. This year’s pilgrim movement is expected to witness a significant increase due to the implementation of the Mahalakshmi scheme, which offers free travel for women aboard TGSRTC buses.

Officials have reported that a temporary bus station has been established on a 50-acre plot of land allotted by the Mulugu District administration. Buses will be sourced from various districts across the state, including Hyderabad, to facilitate these special services. A total of 51 traffic-generating points have been identified in Warangal, Karimnagar, Adilabad, Khammam, and Hyderabad for the operation of these special buses to Medaram.

With an estimated 20 lakh pilgrims anticipated to travel by TGSRTC buses during this period, there will be extensive arrangements made to manage the rush. At the temporary bus station, 50 queue lines spanning about nine kilometers have been arranged to accommodate around 20,000 passengers at a time. To facilitate passenger comfort and convenience, temporary sheds covering 1.10 lakh square feet have been set up for waiting areas, crew rest rooms, and maintenance activities. Furthermore, parking facilities that can accommodate about 1,000 buses have been developed in Medaram and Kamaram.

Over 10,400 personnel, including drivers, conductors, security staff, and officers, will be deployed around the clock to ensure seamless operations during this religious event. In addition, a command and control center equipped with 76 CCTV cameras has been established at Medaram for effective monitoring.
