Deccan Alert | Karnataka BJP Demands Apology from Congress MLC over Alleged Remarks Against Prime Minister Modi

In a contentious turn of events at the Karnataka Legislative Council, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has staged a protest following remarks made by Congress Member of the Legislative Council (MLC) Naseer Ahmed against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The incident occurred during Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s response to the discussion on the motion of thanks to the Governor’s address on Monday, 2 February.

In a heated exchange between the Opposition and treasury benches, Ahmed allegedly made derogatory remarks against Modi, prompting BJP members to demand his suspension from the House.

However, Karnataka Legislative Council Chairman Basavaraj Horatti chose to expunge the remarks instead of suspending Ahmed. This decision did little to assuage the BJP, who continued their protests from the well of the House, demanding that Ahmed apologize for his comments.

As of now, the Congress MLC has not issued any public apology regarding the allegations. The incident serves as a reminder of the ongoing political tension between the BJP and other parties in Karnataka.
