In a hearing on February 6, the Telangana High Court has directed the local police to clarify whether the passport of Imaddi Ravi, also known as iBomma Ravi, a suspect in numerous film piracy cases, is in their possession. The court’s order came after the Public Prosecutor informed the bench that Ravi does not have an Indian passport but instead holds a passport issued by Ireland.
During the proceedings, the judge observed that Ravi’s Irish passport should be seized. However, the petitioner’s counsel argued that the passport was already in the custody of the police. In response to this assertion, the Public Prosecutor requested additional time to clarify the issue as the investigating officer was not available at present.
As a result, the court ordered the police to provide a clear status report on the seizure of Ravi’s passport.
