Deccan Alert | Man from Telangana Detained at India-Pakistan Border in Jaisalmer While Trying to Reach Dubai

Ashfaq Hussain, a resident of Telangana, was detained for allegedly attempting to illegally cross the India-Pakistan border in Pochhina, Jaisalmer. According to Myajlar Police Station SHO Sajjan Singh, Hussain was handed over to the Border Security Force (BSF) after being spotted in a restricted area by a bus driver.

Preliminary interrogation by the BSF led to the handover of Hussain to Myajlar police, and the Joint Interrogation Committee (JIC) began investigating the matter on Thursday. During interrogation, Hussain claimed that he had moved to Dubai in 2012, where he lived until 2017. He stated that he had invested Rs 25 lakh rupees in a hotel business with Rajesh Chaudhary, a resident of Rajasthan, with the help of Sajid from Bihar and Naseer, a Dubai-based associate. However, Hussain alleges that his investment was never returned, and Rajesh later disappeared.

Hussain reportedly told authorities that he had come to Jaisalmer in search of Rajesh, whom he believed to be residing in the Sam area. Failing to find him, Hussain boarded a bus and reached the border areas, although officials noted that his statements have been inconsistent during interrogation.

Police are currently investigating Hussain’s foreign travel records and contacts, while his mobile data, call records, and Dubai connections are under scrutiny to verify his claims. A valid passport with a Dubai visa was found in his possession, though no mobile phone was recovered. Legal action will follow once the JIC completes its investigation.
