Deccan Alert | CM Revanth Reddy Emphasizes Need for Journalist Legislation and Highlights State Empowerment Schemes

In a significant address, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy underscored the necessity of a legislative measure to differentiate genuine journalists from those who masquerade as such for personal gains or business interests. He further emphasized the need to curb discontented elements from manipulating the system under the guise of journalism. He attended the event held at Praja Bhavan on Sunday as the Chief Guest, on the occasion of International Women’s Day.

On this occasion, Revanth Reddy honored several women journalists for their commendable work. Reflecting on the pivotal role newspapers and journalists played during the nation’s struggle for independence, he drew parallels with Mahatma Gandhi’s Young India magazine and former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru’s National Herald publication. Revanth Reddy noted that these personalities demonstrated how wars could be won through media outlets.

The Chief Minister also took the opportunity to discuss various initiatives implemented by the state government in support of women empowerment. This includes providing free travel for women on Regional Transport Corporation buses and designating them as owners of 1,000 buses and 1,000 MW solar power plants.

In another development, Revanth Reddy announced that the state government has entered into an agreement with Amazon for the sale of goods produced by self-help groups. The Chief Minister expressed a vision to nurture local talent and transform it on a global scale.
