Deccan Alert | TDP Directs MP Putta Mahesh to Stay Away from Party Activities Following Drug Allegations

In a move to safeguard the party’s image, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) has issued a notice to its MP from Eluru, Putta Mahesh Kumar Yadav, following allegations of drug use. The directive comes after Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu expressed serious concern over the incident that took place at a party in Hyderabad on March 14.

The party raid, led by Telangana’s Elite Action Group for Drug Law Enforcement (EAGLE), resulted in six individuals, including Putta Mahesh and BRS leader Rohith Reddy, testing positive for methamphetamine or cocaine. A total of 11 people were found at the party.

In response to the incident, TDP’s Andhra Pradesh unit president Palla Srinivasa Rao issued a notice to Putta Mahesh, asking him to submit a detailed clarification on the allegations within five days. The notice also instructed the MP to stay away from party activities until a comprehensive report is received in the matter.

Srinivasa Rao expressed concern over the wide media reports about the incident and stated that these developments may cause serious harm to the party’s image. He added that the required action will be taken based on Putta Mahesh’s clarification.

A case has been registered at Moinabad Police Station under various sections of the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS Act), Arms Act, Telangana State Excise Act, and Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The details regarding Putta Mahesh’s release are currently unavailable.
