Deccan Alert | Thunderstorms Sweep Across Telangana, Bringing Relief from Heatwave Conditions

Residents in Hyderabad and several other districts of Telangana experienced relief from intense heatwave conditions on Wednesday morning following overnight thunderstorms across the state. According to data from the Telangana Development Planning Society, parts of Hyderabad and neighboring districts such as Vikarabad, Rangareddy, and Medchal-Malkajgiri recorded light rainfall ranging from 8 mm to 12.5 mm.

However, several districts received significantly higher rainfall amounts. Dahegaon in Kumram Bheem district recorded the highest rainfall at 75.8 mm, followed by Kulkacherla in Vikarabad (56.8 mm), Bela in Adilabad (53.88 mm), and Bejjur in Kumram Bheem (52.8 mm).

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Hyderabad has forecast thunderstorms to continue across Telangana over the next few days, with spells of rain accompanied by gusty winds likely until the weekend. The IMD’s forecast indicates that weather conditions are expected to remain overcast and potentially dangerous, with “thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds (30-40 kmph) very likely to occur at isolated places across all districts of Telangana.”

Residents in the affected areas are advised to stay indoors during thunderstorms and avoid any outdoor activities when weather conditions are unfavorable. The IMD will continue to monitor the situation closely and provide updates as needed.
