In a significant step towards bolstering its maritime and industrial sector, the Government of Andhra Pradesh has given the green light for the development of a greenfield port and a National Mega Shipbuilding Cluster at Dugarajapatnam in the Tirupati district. The decision was formalized through an order issued by the state authorities on Friday.

The comprehensive project, which is set to span over approximately 2,000 acres of land, falls under the ambit of the Shipbuilding Development Scheme of the Union Ministry. This initiative aims to substantially enhance Andhra Pradesh’s maritime and industrial footing in the Tirupati district.

The project’s approval marks a significant stride in realizing the objectives outlined in the Maritime India Vision 2030, which envisions a robust and self-reliant Indian maritime sector by the year 2030. The implementation of this project is entrusted to the Andhra Pradesh Maritime Board (APMB).
