In a significant meeting held in San Francisco, Andhra Pradesh IT and Industries Minister Lokesh Nara met with Google CEO Sundar Pichai to discuss the progress of Google’s ambitious $15-billion AI Data Centre planned for Visakhapatnam. The meeting was attended by senior executives Thomas Kurian and Bikash Koley.
Minister Lokesh expressed gratitude towards Google for their landmark investment, which is one of the largest Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) projects outside the United States. He emphasized the need for accelerating project timelines to ensure swift progress.
During the meeting, Minister Lokesh also extended an invitation to Google to consider establishing a drone assembly, calibration, and testing facility in Andhra Pradesh’s upcoming Drone City. The proposal is aimed at further strengthening the collaborative relationship between Google and the state government.
The AI Data Centre in Visakhapatnam is expected to significantly boost the IT sector in Andhra Pradesh, contributing to economic growth and job creation. This development underscores the growing investment interest of global tech giants in India’s burgeoning technology landscape.
