In the heart of Andhra Pradesh, a 58-feet tall statue of Amarajeevi Potti Sriramulu is set to be installed in Amaravati, marking a significant commemoration of the leader who died in a 56-day hunger strike in Madras in 1952. The announcement was made by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu.

The statue, symbolizing Sriramulu’s unwavering dedication to the cause of creating a separate state for Telugu people, will be placed in a park spanning over 6.5 acres that will also be developed in memory of the revered figure.

In addition to the memorial planned for Amaravati and Nellore, plans have been revealed for another memorial to be constructed in Chennai, further solidifying Sriramulu’s legacy across various regions.

The decision to erect such monumental tributes to Potti Sriramulu underscores the continued significance of his contributions towards the formation of Andhra Pradesh as a separate state. The NDA government has also recognized December 20, the anniversary of Sriramulu’s death, as a day of sacrifice in honor of his dedication and selflessness.
