In a key development in the Andhra Pradesh liquor scam probe, the Enforcement Directorate has summoned former Rajya Sabha MP Vijaya Sai Reddy for questioning on January 22. He has been given the option to appear before the agency at its offices in Delhi or Hyderabad.

The ED’s investigation pertains to alleged financial irregularities linked to the liquor policy implemented in Andhra Pradesh between 2019 and 2024, during the tenure of the YSR Congress Party government. The summons forms part of a widening probe that the agency has been pursuing since last year.

The ED is conducting the investigation under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), which empowers it to probe and prosecute cases involving proceeds of crime. Officials said the case has so far revealed suspected irregularities in the formulation and implementation of the state’s liquor policy.

The summons follows a series of raids and examinations of individuals linked to the case, as the agency continues to trace alleged money trails and establish accountability. The ED is expected to intensify its probe in the coming weeks as it seeks to piece together the full scope of the alleged scam.
