January 02, 2026

In a stark revelation, Andhra Pradesh’s Energy Minister Gottipati Ravi Kumar has accused the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) government led by Jagan Mohan Reddy of causing long-term damage to the power sector in the state. The Minister released a statement on Thursday detailing the alleged misdeeds during the previous regime, which he claimed continue to impact the citizens even today.

Gottipati Ravi Kumar alleged that the YSRCP leadership’s greed for commissions led to indiscriminate and overpriced power purchases, resulting in a public burden of Rs 32,166 crore as ‘True-Up’ charges. He emphasized that these actions have continued to affect the power sector and people of Andhra Pradesh despite the YSRCP being in power for five years.

The YSRCP has yet to respond to the allegations made by the Energy Minister. The ongoing controversy is likely to add to the growing political tension in Andhra Pradesh.
