Hyderabad Chief Minister Urges Union Minister for Timely Urea Supply Amid Kharif Season Concerns

The Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Tuesday made an urgent request to Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilisers, JP Nadda, in a meeting held at the latter’s official residence in Delhi. The chief minister called for prompt action to ensure that the remaining 64,000 MT of domestically produced urea and 68,000 MT of imported urea allocated for July are supplied to Telangana without delay, as a timely supply is crucial for meeting agricultural requirements during the ongoing Kharif season.

As per data provided by the Chief Minister’s office, only 3.07 lakh metric tonnes (MT) of urea have been supplied to Telangana between April and June. This falls short of the state’s seasonal requirement of five lakh MT, indicating a potential disruption in farming activities and a possible impact on agricultural productivity during the Kharif season.

The Centre, in response, has not issued an official statement regarding the Chief Minister’s request. It is expected that the Union Ministry for Chemicals and Fertilisers will address this matter promptly to prevent any potential disruption to agriculture-related activities in Telangana.

Meanwhile, work on the Zaheerabad Industrial Smart City project in Hyderabad continues at a steady pace, with the Centre expressing continued support for the initiative. The project, upon completion, is expected to significantly boost industrial and economic growth in the region.
