In a significant stride for the Indian aquaculture sector, SmartGreen Aquaculture (SGA), a Hyderabad-based startup, has launched India’s first state-of-the-art premium trout farming facility in Kandukur mandal, Ranga Reddy district. The announcement was made during the opening ceremony attended by Rajiv Ranjan Singh (Lalan Singh), Union Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, and Panchayati Raj.

Minister Singh hailed SGA as a shining example of the innovation propelling India’s burgeoning startup ecosystem. The facility, designed for cold-water fish production in warmer inland regions like Hyderabad, underscores the country’s growing commitment to specialized aquaculture initiatives.

The Union Minister emphasized that projects such as SGA are instrumental in shaping a promising future for Indian aquaculture. By leveraging advanced technology for farming cold-water fish, these initiatives are driving progress and bolstering India’s position on the global stage.

This development is likely to spur further investment in innovative aquaculture projects across the country, with potential benefits for rural communities, food security, and economic growth. As the sector continues to evolve, it remains to be seen how initiatives like SGA will contribute to India’s ongoing agricultural transformation.
