Hyderabad, July 17 (newindianexpress.com) – In a fresh development in the ongoing political debate over the Medigadda barrage issue, Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president KT Rama Rao has challenged Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy to an open debate on the topic at the project site itself.

Addressing a meeting of Dalit Bandhu Sadhana Samithi at Telangana Bhavan today, the former minister said that if the chief minister truly believes that the Medigadda barrage has collapsed, he should come there and debate in front of the people. Rama Rao also recalled that the BRS had earlier invited the CM for a public debate, offering him three full days of preparation.

Notably, KT Rama Rao’s challenge comes in response to CM A Revanth Reddy’s refusal to participate in a public debate on the Medigadda barrage issue despite being challenged earlier by BRS. The chief minister had suggested that the debate should take place at Nagarjunasagar instead of the project site, but Rama Rao has now proposed an open debate at the Medigadda barrage site itself.

It remains to be seen whether CM A Revanth Reddy will accept KT Rama Rao’s challenge and participate in the public debate on the Medigadda barrage issue. The ongoing political tussle between the two leaders is being closely watched by political observers across the state.
